Das International Cycling Film Festival ist eines der wenigen Festivals, die sich auf Fahrradfilme konzentrieren. Es zeigt die sozialen, ökologischen und künstlerischen Errungenschaften, die mit dem Fahrrad verbunden sind. Neben dem fahrradkulturellen Aspekt geht es dem internationalen Festival um die Interaktion zwischen Filmemachern und Fahrradfahrern aus verschiedenen Ländern. Seit dem Festival-Debüt im Jahr 2006 wurden dazu etwa 100 Filme aus über 30 Ländern gezeigt.

Neben dem Film-Award “die goldene Kurbel” gibt es auch einen sportlichen Wettstreit: Das Souvenir Stefan Götz wird auch in diesem Jahr als Sprintrennen über 800 Meter auf der Bochumer Radbahn ausgetragen und bildet den sportlichen Abschluss des Festivals.

From June 22-25, 2010, it will highlight the bicycle’s potential to enhance the quality of life around the world and to solve global challenges such as congestion, obesity and climate change. By going global in ‘cycling city’ Copenhagen the conference is celebrating 30 years of Velo-city conferences held by the European Cyclists’ Federation and the previous host cities.

Mai bis 6. Juni 2010 dreht sich auf der Elbinsel Wilhelmsburg in Hamburg alles um ́s Fahrrad. Die Erste Wilhelmsburger Radwoche wird gemeinsam veranstaltet von der Internationale Bauausstellung IBA Hamburg, der internationalen gartenschau hamburg 2013, und dem AK Fahrradstadt Wilhelmsburg.

Laut eigener Aussage will die Wilhelmsburger Radwoche:
- mehr Menschen aller Nationen zum Fahrradfahren bewegen,
- zum sportiven Radfahren motivieren,
- die Rahmenbedingungen für den Radverkehr verbessern und die Anbindung der Wilhelmsburger Radwege an das überörtliche Netz thematisieren,
- das Radfahren im Kontext Klimawandel diskutieren, – Informationen und Tipps rund um das Thema Rad liefern,
- das Thema Rad mit Spaß verbinden und einladen zum bewegten Zusammensein.

Alles vernünftige Punkte, IBA & IGS bleiben mir trotzdem mehr als suspekt!
